J P Myers 1975 Calidris alba Brittan area, 1 Km W of NARL by road, Pt. Barrow, Alaska 9 June (cont'd) it then ran to chase another alba - flight ensued, but briefly, one remained. Back feathers well-erected. Spoke by Stercorarius pom. 1415 - 8 calling again rrrrr rrrrr rrrrr while fluttering. This afterwarked w/ sound I'd heard this am: rrrrr rrrrr [illegible] !!!!! 1.5 sec sharp staccato note w/o rising inflection 9-10 in series in 2-3 seconds the two notes are alternated. Entered next scoop again. No tail raising but calling in rrrrr rrrrr ....... & irrible up the pond edge. She flew. 87 followed abruptly. reappeared w/in 3 minutes during [illegible] & but somehow they picked up another alba. one bird in group calling rrrrr rrrrr while another giving winter "flock" call. visibly apparent in fluorescence that one of the birds is frantically trying to flutter-fly while at the same time keep up with other two. somewhat comical. Transect 1, 51,23 CCS, Pt. Barrow Alaska 15 June 1045 heard alba giving frog display note along E side of ridge ~ 300 m beyond #20 stake.
