Alabama 7201 leas, exigua var. lutea cedar glade, McCalla, Jefferson Co., Alabama - April 29, 1972 The population has dwindled in numbers. Apparently this year has been very dry and unfavourable as was 1971. The area is also receiving hard usage - campfires picnickers etc. which is tending to threaten the population. There were still a lot of small plants and a fairly good seed crop but the abundance is much reduced from previous years. Individual plants were collected and the small ones were massed because each individually did not have enough seeds.
