Mabry 1959 Journal once I started + the day became warm, clear + sunny. Walked over country N. of camp, from camp to coast - made a circle through marsh to Owl ridge & back to camp. Back at camp by 5:30. Went out again about 7:30 or 8:00 - walked S. to check longtail nest by Baidel Stream. Continued beyond to Willow Creek, found a longtail nest across it, which indicated that I was the creek. It was dense deep, swift, & ice cold. Returned to camp by 10:00 PM. June 16 Patineger Basin Three day covered course of Rachel Slough. Fished fencing out to Longtail nest #4, followed my slough both S. and fork. Found Longtail nest. Further up found Pomaune nest. Spent some time here watching female owl & male owl. Thought there was a nest. in the area near the Longtail nest. Continued to Ridge III, now Bear Ridge & followed along it for half mile or so. Located another Longtail nest. Then made traverse through marshy area to Ridge II. Found a Pomaune nest; a black & normal bird mated. Headed back to Tent. June 17 Patineger Basin. Out across marsh to S end Owl ridge. Longtail pair here still not
