almost prevented a landing. We broke camp in a hurry.- caked our gear under a mountain of driftwood & left. Stopped at Lng A - some 30 miles E of the Bitimager for gas. From here we went on grand tour of N.W. Alaska. Departed Lng A @12:45 PM. - followed the coast west of to Cape Lisburne. Clouds covered the NW corner of the coast so we were above clouds from W. of the Pitmeza on to the cape. The coast just south of Lisburne was free. From here we followed the coast to Cape Thompson, doubled back & forth two times along this stretch & continued S. along the coast. Just N. of Cape Prusenstene we cut overland crossing the Divichude hills to Kotyebug, where we landed at 14:48. Departed Kotyebug at 16:39 after a thin lunch at the "Patron Store". Flew up the Noatak River Valley. Because of head winds & increased gas consumption we had to cut across the Brooks Range W. of Howard Pass, down the [illegible] Kuna Pass straight N. to Wainright. From here we went under the clouds & flew at 100 feet m & Barrow-where we arrived at 8:13 PM. Noatak Valley: It was far wider
