Journal
May 21 Pitineger River.
Up at 8. 0'n Tunder lay 10. - walked about
5-6 miles on large circuit on a side
of river. At lunch - set up boat - crossed
river & made a large circle of about
4-5 miles on that side. Returned to tent
at 7.30 PM. Went to sleep at 9. PM.
May 22 Pitineger River.
Don't recall this day in detail. In
general remained in vicinity of tent.
Made morning trap round with Tom.
May 23 Pitineger River.
After breakfast, crossed river, + walked
upstream 2 miles to Dysfalon Crique.
Found the nest with 4 eggs on 35 foot
cleft directly over water. Collected one egg,
took pictures & headed back. Walked about
one willow covered bar for an hour
or so. 3 feet S. alaensis. - shot
beginning to bloom. Several (2-3)
White crowned sparrows singing. Pintail
& Baldpate among willows. Walked
back along bottom of high snow
bank. Finally had to climb the bank
& continue our way on top. Pictures of
Rock Ptarmigan. Reached camp 6.30
or 7.08 PM.
