Maks 1959 Plectrohmax nivalis Colorado Appearance May 17 Barrow, Alaska. One on tundra the evening. Flew by me in weasel. Signs of them feeding about bare spots on tundra near Bas Hill on May 15. None actually seen then Males actively singing about camp since I've been here. Found 4 or 5 located around lab this evening. Plotted locations on map. May 22 - Have seen several - all males - usually along ridges on tundra. May 23 One seen flew across river from E to W. - landed on snow bank May 25 Saw about 2 pair - along rocky ridges. May 26 Paired on rocky ridge upstream on E side. Male on bar below tent this morning May 27 Two seen along beach at time, mouth - a male & female. First female due noted. May 30 Watched hunting behind lab for an hour this evening. Saw 3 pairs going northwoods & cennies, exploring pretty thoroughly. Saw what I thought was an attempted copulation. - unsuccessful. May 31 One seen on tundra near south beach ridge June 3 - Few seen on tundra today
