Maken 1959 Calcaris lapponicus June 18 Nest with 4 egg - in carr tundra adjacent V river + upleam from camp. Nest situated in side of a moss tussock. June 22 × displaying by Ridge II the afternoon. June 24 Nest w 3 egg on E slope of ridge about 2 PM. Still had 3 egg at 11.30 PM first time. June 25 Above nest had 4 egg at noon. × incubating June 27 2PM this nest had 5 egg. × not on when we came. July 3 6 PM above nest still 5 egg, × incubating - Flushed a longtail chick just and × nest could barely flutter off the ground, attended by ×. July 5 3PM, 3 egg + 2 newly hatched young. × not about when I approached nest. July 6 2 PM, 2 egg + 3 chick. × incubating July 7 1 PM 1 egg + 4 chick. July 9 4PM 5 young. In evening saw a × Longspur feeding a flying chick before tent. July 11 4:30 PM above nest w 3 young July 12 nest above - still 3 young. July 13 nest above - 2 young alive, one dead. July 17 (P.M.) One young not fledged in nest. He was almost ready to go. Could not yet quite fly. July 18 First flock of spring longspurs for first time Today - flocks of 20+.
