Spent the morning reading, gathering materials for my movie camera set up, + making final pile of personal gear out in hallway.
At 2 P.M. we went to air port, unloaded Alan Beale oceanographic gear from one plane, loaded our own stuff and were off. Take off at 2:30 or 2:40 forget which. We went in 2 planes, one w/ ski-wheel combination gear + the other with skis. Tommy & I were in the former w/ our own gear + Twin Super in the latter, as observer with some of our less important gear.
Sly overcast, patches of fog - a real "white-out" day. Could see little or nothing on the ground. <1% of ground was bare - only the outlines of ridges & rivers were showing.
