Mable 1959 Aeio flammeus Tws. At any rate the D was present & was calling most of the time, when I was in the neighborhood of the chicks he went into a violent distraction display. It was the same as already seen, except for one detail. After flying down, wing clapping along ground he landed turned & faced me & held his wings out like so, called a few times while doing this. Held pose until the flour again. Don't know what met there came from - I suspected one over this way on N slope above the creek but never found any. Aug 5 One flying chick in nest #4 area, first seen here. Only other so far are one seen last note. Aug 6 Flushed a chick near LT#9 site, also noted several pellets & down feathers in area among tussocks. Found one non-flying chick near junction of ETW pbl & Bailie Sleigh, Banded it. > adult flew about overhead calling. Aug 11 Owls of pair 3+2 seen in morning -
