Male 1959 Asia flamminea but I still found no sign of nest. I'm sure however that at least must be there. Moving chicks from and meets 3 & 4. Oldest ones. Does male feed them? Do they return to nest? Was their leaving material prompted by my visits? Walked areas around nests & could not find them. Found one at nest #4 & put it in enclosure. July 14. Distraction display of 87 owl. I have seen & heard the bird do this several times but usually at a distance & usually he disappears behind tussocks so that I could not see his actions once on the ground. Saw 2 good ones on part of male of nest #3. First one he down down, flew along the ground, perhaps 2-3 feet up, wings out & beat in a shallow arc like so [illegible] & fluttered along making hoarse anxious cries ghi ghi ghi etc. Landed & turned & looked at me (path along ground away from me) made several other cries while standing watching me. Did another as I got closer To nest. Done flew along very close to ground 1-2 feet & this time clapped wings beneath his body as he flew. Wings seemed to scraper on vegetation as he did it & it was done in short bursts. Uttered cries while doing it.
