None have been seen on the tundra yet May 22 Pitegea River. Few have been about along river since we arrived. Sometimes only one 2, or 3 flying along river. This morning there was a flock of a dozen or more along shore downstream from camp. May 23 Few of these cruise up and down the river - seen occasionally in 2's or 3's or singly May 25 Saw two flying along river this afternoon. May 26 Saw surprisingly few in walk about river delta - perhaps a total of 5 from delta to camp. May 27 Saw 4, 3 juveniles, white, + one adult. All in delta or along river. June 3 Pair on S. end Skravik. Pouncing about a particular area. Two on edge of Elson Lagoon. One flying along Elson + one near gas well. June 12 Two in evening along river.
