Mabu 1959 Erolia melanotris Pectorals June 19 Pectoral flew up & gave distraction display in area of carex marsh on E. side of Loon marsh. Didn't see precisely where it came from as couldn't find nest. June 20 flushed pectoral in carex marsh on E. side of river. June 25 Flushed 2 from low polygon area below camp.-alarm calls. Flushed other during day from similar habitat didn't note them down. July 7 Flushed 2 or 3 from carex marsh area Friday. July 12 Found a pectoral chick, in Loon pond by camp ridge - wing partly feathered out - couldn't fly. & gave elaborate distraction display. I believed from her actions there were more chicks but couldn't find any. Another anxious & along Loon Slough near from #1. July 27 Only one seen today: They are definitely down in number. July 28 Two pectorals, adults, seen in sedge tundra near Longtail 5 ridge. Same area from which 2 Bewitcher chicks were flushed. Aug 1 One flying chick flushed from carex marsh near Paramut #3 nest area. Aug 3 Have seen several flocks of pectoral in past few days. Flocks up to 15 individuals
