May 21 Pitnegea Bria - Have been seen about
over miles & over hundred in small
groups or singly. One flock of 16 was
largest seen.
May 23 Still seen occasionally. They occur only
in pairs. Announcement call of the males
are [illegible] heard occasionally throughout the
day.
May 25 Saw a few. Heard none display today.
They seem to have dropped off in numbers
as have most other shore birds
May 26 Total of 8 recorded: a flock of 5, + 3 single
Two of the latter were seen displaying.
May 27 4 seen near displaying quite frequently.
I watched one pair in which the male
made 3 announcement flights subexciting
3 sides of a large square about 1 1/2 acres
in size.
June 13 Pitnegea - saw a few today but heard more
display.
June 14 Flushes female from nest of 4 eggs. In
area of polygon - small ponds etc. On
a polygon with heavy stand of Carex
aquatica -
June 15 Heard one display today. First since my
return.
June 17 Pedroal flushed up from area of Carex marsh
- in dawn March.
