Mable 1959 Hercia americana Baldpate May 23 One seen in group of 607 pintail flying downstream. Later we flushed 6 or seven from willow covered bar a mud system. They were with 12-14 pintail May 27 Three seen - a 9+2? - in delta. June 23 A female Baldpate was seen at Loon Pond beyond Ridge #7 today. This bird was seen in the same neighborhood about 4-5 days ago. White shoulder or fire edge of upper wing+ dark speculum - general gray appearance to bird. Flushed from pond at 2:20. Returned at 3:22. A pamarine hit her hard as she sat on the water of a little pond few yards from Loon Pond. Flew to Loon pond - then to shore of pond - then back to pond & hid in weeds. Few minutes later (about 10) she flew off. June 24 A flew past me on Ridge #7 at 4:38 P.M or so. Only sign of her today. Hercia americana is now Anas americana pn AOU 1998
