Mack 1959 Chen hyperborea May 22 Ptarmigan Line. Two seen flying upstream past tent on evening of May 20 Two seen on snow bank by river on afternoon of May 21 Twenty+ snow geese this noon - flaw by headed W. across tundra. May 23 Flock of 20 this morning flew up river. A flock of 10 feeding along edge of grassy vegetation in one bend of river - mile upstream from camp. Another group of 10 on tundra on E side of river. Flew across river at our approach. Noted some with rusty brown heads + necks in this latter flock May 26 A flock of 21 were on the gravel bar at the mouth of the river. They finally flew when I got too close. Headed W. Tom saw a flock of 25 or so upstream near Cypfalton nest. He scared them downstream. There was a flock feeding on the tundra 1/2 mile inland from boat which may have been the 2nd. May 27 Flock of 30-35 have been settled on tundra across river all day.
