Mary 1959 Davia Stellata June 20 (Cont.) Nest #3, 2 eggs on edge of pond 100 x 15 yds. in size. On East side of line. Nest #4, 2 eggs - edge of lake 100 x 20 yards. West side of river. Nest #5, 2 eggs, on mound of much peat created by the loons about 120 feet out of the water & 2 feet in diameter. Situated about 25 feet from the shore of the lake in a zone of artriphylla fulva. Nest #6, 2 eggs - an empty bowl was found just some 50 feet along lake edge from nest. In all above cases parents left the lake when I was 200-300 yards away. In no case were both birds present. Nest #2 no bird was present to oppose. Curl. Absence of adults may have been due to Caribou which were grazing in that area. One returned while I was leaving nest, flew about calling + then left. June 22 Nest #2, bird incubating at 1:30 PM. Nank Childs reports a second, empty, bowl on same pond. June 23 Lion appeared incubating at W. end pond. Nest nest locals. Other spied have submerged on far side. at 11:25. Both swimming on pond at 11:47. One began incubating at 3:55. Both remained on
