Meha 1959 Davia stellata may 26 Pelmenegen Delta. Three red throated loons in delta of river. May 27 4 swimming in water outside of river mouth. Earlier there was a pair swimming - calling on river. Flew off downstream, may have been 2 of these. June 13 Pelmenegen - pair on small pond between ridges 2 + 3 west of camp. June 15 Mod loon courting today. Bedlam from river & delta area periodically all day. Saw one pair on river, 1 mile upstream in evening. Pair landed somewhere in Bosque. Loon mated during day - or yesterday. June 19 #1 Nest with 2 eggs on small pond where pair was seen on June 13. Pictures of nest. Both adults flew off when I approached pond. One - ?(!) waited until I was at nest to leave pond. She was well hidden did not see her at all until she surfaced + took off. June 18 #2 Nest with one egg on small pond at w edge of camp ridge. Pond armochoid shop roughly 60 x 40 feet. Loon could barely get off even with breeze blowing. June 19 Checked again at 6 PM still one egg. June 20 Checked at 6:45 PM - 2 eggs. adult gone, eggs cool, adult returned as I was leaving - called a couple of times then flew off.
