Mahey 1959 Journal Aug 29 Bonanz Alaska. Honey O'Sullivan typed abstract in morning + I finally got it in mail that day. Should arrive in Berkeley on Monday. Nat too late I hope. Threatened to send John O'Sullivan myself to Kaalak. Got packed + ready. Flight canceled. Wrote Davey Aug 30 Kaalak River Alaska. Finally got off the ground after lunch. John O'Sullivan accompanied me. Bob Mein flew us in in wheel plan 04E. Rive was down + her o.t. My tent + outfit from early July was still on the bar. The tent had collapsed but everything was in good shape. We re elevated the tent + moved in. Picked up pellet of parasites near camp while waiting for the plane to return with second load. Tropics both out evening. Aug 31 Kaalak River Alaska. In A.M John + I carried the sled boat up to Big Suter Lake, assembled same + cruised about it surrounding the bottom. The lake proved to have 2 deep parts 17+ 18 feet respectively but the bulk of it was 5-8 feet deep. Picked up lake basin parasitic pellet before returning to tent. In evening went out to Elephant Bluff + poked around.
