Mable, 1959 Jammed in the evening. Aug 21 Peter Lake Alaska. On return yesterday I found my artifact-scraper blade-missing. Returned this morning to site where I had eaten an orange on Coke can. I remembered taking it from my pocket there. Could not find it. So I searched the area several times. Then discovered that my right front pants pocket had a large hole & decided that I might have lost it that way. Too bad. After lunch went up Carnivore Creek at head of Peter with Dr. Chase. We collected a couple of sacks of rock lichens for Ed Mueller who wants them for [illegible]. Dr. Llano. Aug 22 Peter Lake, Alaska Do not remember this day in detail. In morning wrapped the shrub pellets in toilet paper, packed specimens etc. In evening went to N. end of lake + checked small lake for birds - the female & 6 chicks were still present, also the male. Finally concluded that they are white-winged Scoter. Aug 23-25 Peter Lake, Alaska Spent the last 3 days simply waiting
