but found that the wind kept them inactive. About 3 PM or so the plane came. Just when I had decided it wouldn't be in until the 27th. Max Brewer was aboard and Tommy Farrell. May-Bobby departed for Kotzebue after a cup of coffee. Tommy + I set out 2 squirrel traps & checked my line traps. Closed traps at 9 PM. At 11 PM it had been raining for several hours by then, the plane returned with Max + Bobby. More coffee. They departed at 11:45 or so. Rained all night. July 24 Pitmegea River, Alaska. Spent day trapping squirrels. Morning was windy & cloudy. Wind died down in afternoon when of course the meegubees came out. Tried to scare squirrels but they were inactive. Eventually however, trapped 2 in the Home-a-heart traps. Made a cage for one. Snared one on bar but it got away from me. Finally caught 2 minkies in line traps !!! July 25 Pitmegea River, Alaska Made round of nest boxes. First nest #5, Owl 4, & Parasit #2, the after setting line traps + squirrel traps. Caught
