Two of the 3 Pomerines also failed early. Watched at end of Ridge # for a while, Pomerine defending here is gone. Returned about to 104. After supper, rechecked line traps + closed them + set out the Spruce trees (5) that have been sealed in near the tent. Calm warm evening. ST threatened rain all afternoon but the clouds remained mild and a few miles + no rain fell. July 21 Pitnegea River, Alaska. Warm relatively calm day. Mergutor thick. Collected a few plants on bar + pressed some in morning, managed to keep busy, burned garbage + filled in our garbage hole. After noon walked up + set up line traps + then on towards mean. Saw a Drably Bear walking down Flint Ridge. Decided to wait a while before going thru. Bear went on west over next long ridge. Watched from Flint Ridge a while - Eiders on water + big flock heading W. Kang. Found adult & 2 down
