June 30 Kaolak River, Alaska. Carried fencing to Eagleflat pasture next & fenced same, also fenced in the Longtail in the same vicinity. Treversed
repland to Amber flats, found nest there at West end. Walked along to two lakes at East end of flats. Found a Glorious Bull
nesting by West kidney Lake and a Longtail
a few hundred yards away in marsh. Returned
over repland & zig zagged about & finally
found Longtail nest which fills in the
last gap on the map.
In evening fenced in the camp pasture
pair. Rain showers in early evening. Thunder,
and lightning.
July 1 Barrow, Alaska. Fenced in Elephant pear
Longtail. Longtail #8 & Glorious Bull.
Made the last an extra large enclosure.
Then walked up to Sister Lakes & fenced in
the parasite pair there. We went out
on lake while I was there - Big Sister -
Warm day but brisk breeze blowing; this
confounded the mosquitoes. Returned to camp
by 3:00 3:30. No sign of plane, until
5:30 or 6 PM when it arrived. Took Delo
myself & left all our camping gear. Made a
low flight to Wainright picked up Dick
Holmes & returned to Barrow.
