make 1959 Journal June 25 (6st) unusual. Rappel + Arbute-crowned Sp... picked up an old Shrike nest + brought it back to camp. 1/2 - 3/4 mile above the creek I spotted a rock pinnacle which looked good for Peregrines. Found a nest alright but at present unused, few Rough-leg feathers about. Walked up the creek 1/2 mile + so found a Rough-leg nest on a steep rock slope - likewise unused this year. Returned to camp at 7:15 PM. Hank had shot cormoran After supper floated down to the delta. See along shore as far as one could see. Large flock of Steller's Eiders + Old Squaw plus few older birds. Barn Swallow roosting in old cabin. Returned to tent 11:30 PM. June 26 Ptarmigan River, Alaska In morning fussied with camera set up again. Also by stroke of luck had the Longtail do a tug of war by tent + fished that. Afterwards made a circuit of study area going N. along ridge to Longtail nest nearest the cabin, then To the Pauanet nest, + on W along shore to next Longtail nest. Traversed marshy cleamageway To Ptarmigan Ridge where found a Longtail nest I hadn't located before. Could locate peregrine nest of pair seen copulating here some
