This method used also on ridge plot area with same results except chironomids turned out to be a small grayish rasal with approximately 20 turning up in 10 ft drag. In a 12 x 12 x 1" amud sample from edge of tundra pool behind ARL got 236 red chironomid larvae - they are preserved no other animal life noted by this sampling method June 23. Exploratory sample of tundra pools on ridge showed same levels of chironomid larvae. Plankton net dragging in pool behind ARL yielded 2 lepidoptera (Lepidoptera) larvae a bottom sample near edge of pool showed 1 red chironomid larva; 10 earthworms 2 beetle like larvae. This sample consisted mostly of moss-like materials and a few grass stems - size 1 sample 12 x 12 x 1" & from under 2" of water. June 26.
