in spite of the fact that temperatures in high polygons rise from ±1°C to ±9°C in 24 hrs. at the stream s/fm Wohlschlag slough noted a number of Muscoid flies but not in any great numbers - also here, a chironomid adult was encountered. No Bumus seen all afternoon. Dominant Hemisphicuma flowering vascular is Eriophorum. Details is about through blooming except for a few plants in the marshy areas especially near the edges. Ripper is about shot as is Cochlearia etc. Many Safiarges as in bloom. Today much like football weather in the fall - air has nip about it.

Clear - this am on shady side of building is gravel area this was first coat of frost. Went out on the ridge at the stream near Wohlschlag slough area. Prodigious sweeping of vegetation adjacent to stream yielded a few muscoid flies, but not many actually considering the large number of sweeps ±10 to get one fly. Sweeping along yielded a few midges. But sweeping on the ridge itself failed to demonstrate anything. at flowers of Senecio an occasional muscoid fly was observed. a willow aves x also high polygons a few chironomids were noted.
