August 13. muscid flies found at vegetation. In the floral heads (non ligulate) of Senecio there was a small vestigial winged scleronomous in fair abundance 2 to 3 per head - these are probably the pollinators for a few of same sp also seen in the ligulate flowers and close examination revealed traces of pollen clingings to their bodies. On the top of the bright green clumps of "long shafted" mosses were found a number of Chrysomela subabundant larvae apparently approaching pupation. no adult Chrysomela encountered. a green lepidopteran larva was observed walking across the Betula vegetation. Blowing smoke into the holes along old beach line failed this time to produce any evidence of Sciara. A few spiders observed but not too many. Spiders were flooring in groups up to as high as 29 - others feeding were foraging on vegetation - observations include pecking at seed heads of Ligula + Potentilla (see stomach analysis). No Bombyx was observed. A few ichneumonids were observed raising through the vegetation but a very marked drop had occurred in their numbers.
