August 7
Ridge plots this afternoon (12-5:38) on a
very clear day but with a cool breeze - apparently
held mosquitoes down to minimum probably
as no more than 50-100 all afternoons. Plots
essentially same as last time, but Schneumones
down a little. Collected 1 vestigial winged
Tyspoid - only one seen, around or surfaces
of Arctophile pond is a different Scopomenid
than seen previously - also the val pisum? critter
out in greater numbers ±5 per sq. meter species
in grass-wild surface of ridge. At Arctophile
pond only 1 adult Tichup seen - green
species of Chironomid much more abundant
probably dying & appearance of jamelo - still
in all there is probably less than 5 per sq. meter
of pond surface. Around ALL this area early
Chironomid ridge abig great numbers also
this evening. Sand pipers are feeding on the
bananas of these was in the tundra ponds while
ALL a few mosquitoes noted in this
area also.
