Barnes, Alaska Thursday 1952 August 6 in all patches of betsisits as well as the Saxifraga, Papaver (which is now at peak bloom in the ridge area, Many (±10) Symyspines noted on ridge around Willemovsky Pass. August 7 Ridge plots this afternoon (12-5:38) on a very clear day but with a cool breeze - apparently held mosquitoes down to minimum probably as no more than 50-100 all afternoons. Plots essentially same as last time, but Schneumones down a little. Collected 1 vestigial winged Tyspoid - only one seen, around or surfaces of Arctophile pond is a different Scopomenid than seen previously - also the val pisum? critter out in greater numbers ±5 per sq. meter species in grass-wild surface of ridge. At Arctophile pond only 1 adult Tichup seen - green species of Chironomid much more abundant probably dying & appearance of jamelo - still in all there is probably less than 5 per sq. meter of pond surface. Around ALL this area early Chironomid ridge abig great numbers also this evening. Sand pipers are feeding on the bananas of these was in the tundra ponds while ALL a few mosquitoes noted in this area also.
