Red Phalarope Stomachs
♂ wing + leg fragments of Chrysomelid + carabids
constitute stomach contents.
♀ Wing + leg fragments of Chrysomelid & carabids
✓ ±50 Chironomid larvae, these constitute about
85% bulk of stomach contents; a few springs
of grass leaves and 5 Carex aquatilis seeds
♂ 50-75 Chironomid larvae (red); chrysomelid
fragments
♂ ±50% Trichoptera larvae, ±50% Chironomid
larvae; 10 Carex aquatilis seeds
♂ large red mite 20; earthworms 11; remainder
of contents (75% her) are Trichoptera larvae
♂ 15 Trichoptera larvae (this is the bulk of contents);
a few chrysomelid fragments present
♂ empty
♂ 25 seeds of Carex aquatilis make up
principle gut contents; a few scattered
fragments of a Coleopteran - probably Dytiscid.
♂ 3 snail shells; balance almost entirely
deal incomplete series of Diptera larvae (Tipulid)
♂ ±50 Chironomid larvae
♂ empty
♂ Perpendicularly Chironomid larvae (red) a
few beetle fragments
♀ Bulk consists of Chrysomelid fragments;
a few carabid & Dytiscid remains
present
