Weather during count overcast with strong southerly wind over camp, not a few times then briefly Meter Plot No. 1 (First Scan) Date July 8, 1952 A. Barrow, Alaska Hurd at a replicate can stained 8 Tipulid adults 7 spiders 1 chrysoloma subboulcata A44 / pupae; small humps in which most of diptera taken intervening areas outside, staphs + collembola. Can count: 1 fungivoid; 1 cecidomyid ; 3 Staphylinids; 12 spiders; 50 collembola Surface fauna: 1 Tachinid, 15 Fungivoids; 5 Ephydrids; 7 spiders. 1 cecidomyid. Replicates gave quantitatively the same levels except no more Tachinids this replicate with 1 anthomyid in front 1 5 replicates. Chrysoloma subboulcata approximated 1 per 4-5 sq. meters and then only in Petasites area. Hymenoptera probably repressed due to poor sun light. 29 Berlese sample: 7 mm of collembola & mites in vial 8 x 90 mm - saved 7 Vegetation notes: Petasites flowers open wide - at adjacent polygon a few "red-tailed" Bombus visiting flowers. Remarks: Longspurs actively feeding in this polygon
