Hurd 1953 H. Barrow, Alaska July 23 afternoon on ridge - overcast with 5-10 mph wind S.W. overcast had a few rift while country on willow area but not in actual plots. Overall population down, Tigrulids not observed even in high polygons. The marsh species has apparently disappeared. Greatest number of individuals of Muscids, Georgiurids; and Sciurids noted in willow patch ridge - counts ran that: ± 15 muscids; ± 5 fungiurids as high as ±20 in some areas; ± 5 Sciurids but up to ± 25 in certain areas, counts all on 15 minute Basis. No Tigrulids noted on the willow ridge. around dead carcasses some ± 5 Borburids? and an occasional Scopeum did. None of the dead lemming carcasses had any Calliphilidae crowd. Chummids, not very abundant - only incidental in higher parts of ridge & occasional in willow area. At a Ectopila pond the water has a large number of dead ones - very few live were noted.
