June 26 Delphacids Located (all stages) on high grass topped Javelin ridge. Many adults collected. = Hardya youngi June 29 Sampling on midge plots. This area, there was a blanket of snow 1 ½" thick on tundra. About an hour later, it had melted. Weather for afternoon event was overcast with light west wind. Midge adults much less conspicuous than on the 26th. Only as occasional one encounter. All counts down over last time, g.v. July 2 Sampling on ridge - afternoon overcast with rain by 3:30 p.m. activity mostly midges on arctophila ponds and at the ridge plots. Water traps in arctophila pond yielded 16 Dytis cida adults; the large midge females & pupae thereof. Fungivorida went up in the counts to almost 1 per sq. meter per 15 minutes of observation. Spider activity down over last time with only 2 seen. Same holds for anthomyids but rain doubtless had an effect on them. 1st Betasites blossoms noted. Pandes becoming quite queen
