June 19 morning spent in laboratory catching up with Berlese sample, work and mounting of surface plot insects. Two of the moths (8+4) emerged in Laboratory from cocoons brought in earlier this month. Spent afternoon wiring Berlese started out their fog + cleared towards noon. During counts on ridge plots, it was mostly clear and sunny. Insect activity on the increase. 1st Bomber queen noted in flight over ridge; occasional large species of Tenthredinid encountered; C. thoracoides flies commencing to emerge. S. amara adults on increase. Most obscure element of surface fauna are the spider. water traps yielded 1 ad Dyssida. June 21 morning spent in lab. afternoon at Britten Mannor. Day overcast with 6-10 mph W wind + fog setting in by early evening. June 22 Trail men of Britten's soil sampler spent rest of day catching up. June 23 Rain'd off or most of day - a warm rain which put an end to the snow cover along old beach line. Spent 12:30-3:00 pm on ridge plots.
