June 4 Over cast all day a few brief periods of some sunshine. Spent day in laboratory working on minutens and getting Berlee set up. June 5 Spent afternoon out on ridge in exploration of insect activity. Day overcast with high fog, clouds scarcely any wind & quite warm. Cardiit & Staphylinid adults in fair number within tightly packed moss. 2 flies observed one the large Saperima vulpinum and a smaller sp. probably a scavenger. A few spiders noted wandering over the water, snow free areas. Not very many colembole present a surface mites on low alae. Experimentally burned a couple of high contented polygons which were surrounded with snow. Snow cover probably 60-70 % lemmings becoming more & more abundant as the snow cover leaves. June 6 Spent day in lab. June 7 Out to Nuwuk in afternoon. Clear this an hot crowded over in early afternoon. No adult insect activity observed at Nuwuk. Towards evening cleared off. Spent evening working in lab. June 8 1st day of sampling on ridge. Clear beautiful day snow cover in ridge puzan virtually gone. Marsh areas fast becoming filled with water.
