Sampling Nots
July 3. + Ephydrid adults.- these averaged
abnt 1 or 2 per sq. meter. Beetle
activity not observed in any of the localiti

Exploratory sampling in willow ridge produced
in the average per sq. meter 10 Ephydrid flies
1 spider; 3 ichneumonids; 1 Tenthelid
and less than 1 fungivoid per sq. meter. A
few longspurs were feeding in this situation
probably not more than 10 per acre.
for the portion of the ridge under consideration.
Principal floral composition is: Salix 3 spp
and in other areas adjacent to willow area
is betasites. Small flowers 3-6 of the
Bectural Sand pipers also fed in the area
metered. Observed 3 Bombus queens
and 2 moths similar to ones being reared
in lab. 3 mm cocoons were found
high centered polypore blisters in betasites
area. Several cocoons from which the moths
had emerged were also seen.
Around ARL many midges were observed
in flight, resting on the vegetation and
also on ponds. Morning was fairly warm
Dune dry as high as 56 F.- sampling was done
in afternoon in willow ridge.
