R.D Hamilton 1965 Journal Barrow Alaska July 19 2nd Steller's Eider. Small concentrations of Pupils were found around pond edges. On the Ridge top there was much sign of Pupils activity. The Steller's Eider nest that had been found previously, still contains only one egg but it is now lined with down. In the evening I was not feeling well and Steve ran the trapplines for me. July 15 The morning was overcast and cool. The temperature was about 35°F. I ran trapplines IV-VIII and saw little bird activity. The afternoon was going so I stayed in and read. In the evening it cleared and warmed to about 40°. Paul and I brought in the trappline. A Red-throated Loon was heard singing in Central Moose. A flock of 19 Common Eiders were observed flying to the N along Elson Lagoon. July 16 The day was overcast and windy, the wind was from SE at about 15 MPH. The temperature was about 35°-40°. In the afternoon Paul and I went to Elson Lagoon to look for larger birds. Two nests were found where the road leaves Central Moose at Volschby Slough. A flock of five Yellow-billed Loons were seen flying over. Four Arctic Terns were observed feeding in Volschby Slough. Two Long-tailed Jaegers were observed flying over the Tundra. Flocks of Eider were regularly seen flying N along Elson Lagoon. July 17 The day was overcast but the sun occasionally
