R.B. Hamilton 1965 Motacilla flava Jun. 27 Barrow Alaska - Two Yellow Wagtail were observed flying over the Barrow Area in a westerly direction. They made almost continuous noise as they flew and had a rollercoaster flight somewhat like a Goldfinch. They were small passerines. The thin bill and yellow underparts could be observed. Aug 3 Cape Thompson - Four birds of this species were observed in the creek bottom. They are quite beautiful and are usually seen flying over. 4 Two birds of this species were seen in the vicinity of camp. 5 Eight birds of this species were seen in the vicinity of camp. They sometimes foraged on the beach. Several of the birds seen were immatures. 6 Twelve birds of this species were observed in the creek bottom. 7 Thirty birds of this species were seen along the creek. They were very beautiful and usually seen circling overhead. They could be distinguished from the other small birds by their longer tails and by their continuous issuance of a characteristic call note. 8 Eight were seen near the camp. 11 Twelve birds of this species were seen. They impressed me with their resemblance in appearance and action to pipits. 12 Eight birds were seen 13 Ten birds were seen 14 Sixteen birds were seen 25 Barrow Alaska - One bird was perhaps heard flying over Beach Ridge.
