A.B. Hamilton 1965 Falco peregrinus July 10 Barrow Alaska- A bird of this species was observed flying W on the W side at South Meadow Lake. As it flew over the territories of juncos it was pursued by them. The Peregrine was not flying much faster than the juncos and indeed the juncos closed to within 10 ft. The juncos would cease the pursuit when they crossed their territory boundaries. I did not see how the Duck Hawk escaped pursuit. This bird seemed to be a little bit smaller than the juncos that pursued it. It was flying between me and the sun and I could not distinguish the color of its plumage. July 21 An adult of this species was observed flying W on the N shore of Volbells slough. The juncos did not bother it as long as it was in sight. The bird seem to be especially dark plumaged.
