R. B. Hamilton 1965 Polysticta stelleri July 5 Eight seen in Uts Am. Female still present July 6 Ten seen. July 8 Two seen in Uts Am. July 9 Six were seen; four in Footprint Lake. July 10 A Steller's Eider nest was found about 10' E of stick 6.2 on line II. It is mid. of grass lined with a spoon amount of blackish down and contains one both colored egg. July 11 Many Steller's Eider are present near lake Elkhornville. One female was flushed from a nest that contained six eggs. This nest was photographed. It contained much more down than the one found yesterday. July 12 Twenty were seen; by clock at 12 and one at 1:30. July 13 Eighteen were seen July 14 Sixteen were seen. July 20 The nest near line II has been abandoned. It still contains one egg. Two females observed in Hamilton's crags July 21 Six seen in Hamilton's crags; one was a male in molt with dark "spectacles" around the eyes. One bird appeared to flank from a nest July 22 One bird seen July 23 One seen July 24 One seen July 25 Thirty were seen near Elkhornville. Aug 27 One was seen feeding on the beach
