R. B. Hamilton 1965 Journal Bering Alcids Aug. 25 of Pintails flew over. There were still no pectoral gulls. A family of eels busy moved into Cultural marsh. Aug. 26 The day was mostly overcast. In the morning I saw 15, treplises and again saw a Gyrfalcon. The number of Gyrfalcons shorebirds has noticeably decreased. In the afternoon Dr. Pitilla and I drove to Footprint Lake looking for Swans. We saw about 7 Pomarine and one Pomarine. The number of shorebirds was low in this area. There was the flock of Dunlins in the lake bed. I did not run 15 traps at night because there were seen. Learning samples that still had to be worked. Aug. 27. The wind has shifted and is coming from the NW at about 15 MPH. The day was overcast and there was rain, sleed. In the morning I pulled in 73. traps. I again saw a Gyrfalcon. The number of shorebirds was way down. Traps set, we in the 20's. In the afternoon I spent 3 hrs looking for Alcids. I saw Marrii (sp.? ) and lots of Kitts. I saw 3 flocks at Eider and two at Black Point. After supper Dr. Pitilla and I left for more trap work, climber.
