driving would not start. I walked back to the
126 ... saw several groups of Sharp-tailed (Pectoral)
Sandpipers. I thru walked till another bird was
available and at 1,000 I had II about 1600.
Late in the evenings I ran the trip line again.
Aug. 17
The day was overcast with a little bit of
rain in the morning. I ran the trip line in the
morning. On North Meadow lake there was a female
Old Squaw with five young about half-grown. Dovitches
arrived in fairly large numbers since yesterday. In the
afternoon I went to the Vets area to determine the
extent of shambles distribution. I saw a large
flock of Gull, there that contained 2 old year
Herring Gull. Sanderling were present in large numbers
throughout. At 10:30 I stopped and looked for
Alcids about ½ hour. I saw Sabine's Gulls, Thick-billed
Murre and Black-legged Kittiwakes. A saw an Alcid
which was either a Kittlity Murrelet or least Alcidae
in Winter Plumage. I guess that it was the Murrelet.
In the evening I ran the trip line again. At 10,
AACO should I see a young Red Fox which I approached
to within about 10 ft. and photographed.
Aug. 18
The day was partly cloudy. In the morning I
ran the trip line. It seems that the Dovitches
really moved in over the night. In the afternoon
I tried to catch up on my notes. In the evening
Steve and I pulled in the trip lines.
