678 Silvano 1933 Mad R. ford, 2700 ft., above Rath, Trinity Co., Calif. May 22, 1933 (cobb.) Scattered Douglas Fir, Yellow Pine, Barry Oak and some Madrona. Several hundred feet above the floor of the Mad R. valley I encountered a flock of about a dozen Blue-Backed Saps with several Suckers, Hairy Woodpeckers and Black-Throated Dardblers about. Saps were noisy after the shooting started and seemed to be pairing up. Steady drizzle all day; at times like rain. Had a huge fire in front of tent all afternoon and also at night, for we banked in tent. Not cold though. May 23, 1933 Wet and cold in morning — poor catch in traps — cleared up at noon and remained sporadically shining all day. at 3:30 we had a shift from the Rath School and 1/2 hour was devoted to showing 'em around. Bat shoot in morning resulted in one specimen or 3 been. Night cold release
