749 Canis (2) Horse Mt. 470-5200 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. June 15, 1933 (cmt.) absence of any sign is due to paucity of coyotes. This paucity in turn is probably due to recent (last 10 years) trapping & poisoning campaign in these parts. Coyote Peak, at 3000 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. June 11, 1933 A local shepherd from the hym Ranch, on whose property we are camped, stated that a sheep killing coyote was active; that it was a female with two pups in a den nearby; and that the goat. trapper with his dog would soon be out from somewhere & trail the cyote to its den. This is the only correct way to get these sheep killing coyotes. While a poison campaign it doesn't get everything else to boot!
