Gilmore PELAGIC CORMORANT (5)
1931
From Unalaska to English Bay. Shags
enough. I have not seen any birds
here this fall with the characteristic
white flanks.
Oct. 3. English Bay, W. Unalaska Is., Aleutian Is.
About 20-30 of these birds (Spec.
No. 2217 is one) on some low rocks
about 50 yds from shore on the middle
north shore of the bay. They were
quite wary and flopped heavily off
the rocks when I was several hundred
yards off, but with their usual curiosity
they circled about for quite a while.
Oct. 7. Akutan Pass, W. Aleutian Is. A
few were in evidence in the pass
along in Unalaska Bay. Lone birds
and pairs may be encountered for
almost anywhere in these waters and
I noted them occasionally where-
ever I have been: English Bay, Urelga
Pass, Beaver Inlet, etc.
Oct. 25. Akutan Bay, Akutan Is., E. Aleutian Is.
Common in the outer part of the
bay and around the rocky Akun
