Gilmore RANGIFER (REINDER) D 1931 June 7, St. Michael, Alaska. There is a large Slaughter house where hundreds of reindeer are butchered annually. I think the Roman C. of Nome owns the grounds of the herd. The horns lie in huge files outside the slaughter house. July 12, Sevonga St. Lawrence D. Bering Sea. Only twice or three times have I been remain since Come here on June 21. Twice. I saw isolated animals, evidently separated from the herd. They were half-wild in their actions. On the other occasion I watched a large herd (some 900) flee then a large snow bank to higher ground. All used the beaten trail. July 19.
