CLEITHRONOMYS
SYNAPTOMYS
June 9 Cascade Creek, Norton
Sound, Alaska - No 1583 was
trapped among dry grass & leaves
in a canyon bottom. It was
an accidental catch for I hadn't
supposed anything there when
I set the trap.
June 21 - July 12 Sevoonga, St. Lawrence
Is., Bering Sea, Alaska. The three
caught here were taken among
jumbled rocks of an ankle
cookery. Some traps produced shrews
also & anklets - no Microtus. The
Natures know of their existence
& seem to indicate that they
are to be found only in such
a habitat. Anyhow they are
scarce for a line of 30-40 traps
produced only 3 in 2 wks.
