610 Gilmae CITELLUS (F) 1931 + the anterior side of the anus & seem to be scent glands. Aug. 12. Took a young individual No. 1867 - perhaps born in hibernation, perhaps just after they came out in the spring! (April !) Aug. 14. The 3 citellus have the those scent nipples in the anus much as in the F. As a rule the immatures are very hard to sex for the F. show no signs of mammary glands and the clitoris is so well developed in the Ps that by merely feeling the groin will give one the impression that the specimen in hand is a male. Close examination is necessary. The greater proportion of the population seems to be immatures; old adults are seldom taken. The natives are trapping them quite extensively to obtain the fur. One individual, when being extracted from a steel trap uttered a continuous stream of plaintive cries, shrill and loud, and interspersed
