Gilmore MUSTELA
1931 Aug. 24 Point Hope, Alaska.
A few ermine are taken in the foot-
fall, every winter but they do not seem
To come out on the long sand &
gravel peninsula to Tigira at the
end of Point Hope.
No form of weasel known on St.
Lawrence Is.
Aug. 26 Kotzebue, Kotzebue St. Alaska
A hundred of ermine skins come
into Kotzebue from the trapping
grounds on the Noatak, Kobuk & Selawik
Rivers. Right now, prime good W.1
skins sell for from 150 - 125 a piece.
They seem to be Mustela archieus this
I eredn't be sure.
Sept. 15 Unalaska, Unalaska Is. Alaska
No weasels are known from Unalaska
or adjacent islands. Probably they
occur on Unimak Is; and they are
trapped in moderate numbers on the
Alaska Peninsula. Albert Olam at
False Pass, catches a few, & is willing
to send skins or skulls out to my museum.
