Silmore SORTEX (cont.) (4) 1931 on any island west of the Alaska Peninsula, with the possible exception of Unimak. Sept 18 Unalaska - Mr. Paul McLauren, whom I just met today, states that shrews are common on Tigilda Is. This is as far west as I can trace them. Oct. 12 Akutan Akutan Is W. Aleutian Is. From the McLaurens here, I learn that shrews are common on Tigilda and Unimak but not found farther west. In lieu of the stormy weather herereabouts I doubt if I will get any farther east than Akutan Is. Navigating in a small boat is very dangerous and I doubt if I could get any skipper to take me over to Tigilda Is.
