on the beach - allow very close
approach.
June 21-July 12 Sevoonga, St. Lawrence
Is., Bering Sea, Alaska Common-
seen in pairs & generally near the
beach or rocky cliffs or creeks.
Point Hope Arctic Ocean, Alaska
Aug 2. About 20 have been
seen - plumage subdued in tree,
Aug 22. Commonest about the old
village site & the mission graveyard.
They feed about the ruins of the
old houses & mounds & are quite
tame. Often caught in mouse traps.
Sept. 18. Unalaska, Unalaska Is., Aleutians
So far I have seen "snowflakes" only
on the crests of the highest peaks &
ridges. They seem to confine themselves
to this bleak rocky habitat.
