Gilmore 1931 ALEUTIAN SONG SPARROW (3) Oct. 12 Akutan, Akutan Is., W. Aleutian Is. These birds are very common here along the shore line, among grass and rocks, and about the clock of the whaling station. Oct. 14 Akutan Bay. These sparrows are common around the whaling station and here I have heard them sing more often than usual. Their song is a typical song sparrow song, tho it seems a little less melodious & smooth than the song sparrows of the western U.S. Seem to run in pairs. Do they mate for life? - If so they must be residents thru out the year which so far seems likely.
